Five Best Reasons to Run@Work
By Marlene Atwood, RRCA Georgia State Rep
5. Everyone will think you're an "athlete" in your Nikes and split shorts.
4. Coworkers will hang around your cubicle and ask you about "runner's knee"
and "shin splints".
3. Coworkers will look at you in awe and admiration when you slather on the Icy Hot.
2. You can dazzle everyone by telling them you just ran 5 miles during your lunch hour. They will respond that they "can't even run to the mailbox".
1. You can justify that bag of chips and candy bar that you are devouring for lunch!
Five Ways to Convince Your Boss to Support Run@Work :
5. You want him to test drive a pair of Thorlos.
4. You want to introduce your boss to "the wall".
3. Your boss can multi-task by holding a meeting on the run.
2. Everyone will look at your boss differently (especially since he is wearing his high school basketball shorts circa 1981).
1. Running translates into healthy employees, which translates into fewer sick days, which translates into reduced health care costs, which translates into higher productivity, which translates into bigger bonuses at the end of the year. SHOW ME THE MONEY!
Things to Avoid When During Run@Work :
5. Anyone who wants to schedule a meeting at 11:30 a.m. before your lunchtime run.
4. Your boss - if you're running around the business park at 11:30 a.m. when you should be at your desk, and your boss is just heading out for an early lunch.
3. Anyone who might see you at the end of your run when you're sweaty and suffering from hat hair.
2. Putting your sweaty clothes in your gym bag and then bringing them to your cubicle.
1. Eating more calories than you ran off.
